DBA – Finance & Investing

After completing our DBA in finance & investing, you can:

• Analyze the financial model and operating performance of a company compared to its competitors and market trends to determine the attractiveness of an investment in the company.
• Develop and educate on portfolio and investment strategies that consider risk-return trade-offs.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: 

• Employment in business and financial operations occupations is projected to grow 8% from 2020 to 2030, adding about 750,800 new jobs in the U.S.
• A growing economy and a complex tax and regulatory environment are expected to generate strong demand for accountants and auditors. In addition, increasing usage of data and market research to understand customers and product demand will lead to growing demand for market research analysts. 
• In 2021, the median annual income for business and financial occupations was $30,000 higher per year than the median wage for all occupations in the U.S.

FNCE 720	Data Analysis & Empirical Finance	3	The course will build on DBA 711 by introducing firm value models implemented in statistical software. The course will introduce current research on the efficient market hypothesis, the structure of capital markets, trading of securities, investment strategies, and behavioral finance.
FNCE 751	International Finance	3	FNCE 751 studies aspects of finance done across international borders. Topics include the many risks and opportunities presented in doing business across borders: foreign exchange, tax, regulation and culture. International business is also influenced by variation in macroeconomic conditions. We will analyze hedging international finance risk through operational hedging and financial hedging.
FNCE 754	Portfolio Analysis	3	Investors manage financial assets using modern portfolio management tools. This class will study components of portfolio analysis including diversification within and across asset classes, risk management and tactical asset allocation. The class will also investigate asset manager and portfolio advisor selection for institutions and individuals. Goal setting and target portfolio returns is considered in light of biblical references regarding investment strategy and returns.
FNCE 755	Investment Analysis	3	We review recent literature in the field with the goal of applying it to investment analysis. Assignments include comparable analysis for industry specific situation, valuing currencies, constant-growth stock valuation, real estate valuation, and providing quantitative tools to analyze individual securities and investment opportunities. This course introduces skills required for a career in the institutional investment business. We also evaluate the intangible attributes of firms, including how individual opportunities should be evaluated in the context of a Judeo-Christian value system.

Prerequisites

Doctoral applicants must hold an MBA or a master’s degree in a business-related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Provide an updated copy of your professional resume or curriculum vitae that includes:

• Employment history with details of leadership responsibilities, skill sets and results – the committee looks at both quantity and quality of responsibilities
