The Broadcast Education Association Ranks Regent University Film & Media Program in Nation’s Top 20

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (May 13, 2025) – The Regent University Film & Media Arts program is now ranked #19 in the nation by the Broadcast Education Association – a leap that resulted in the debut of Regent’s School of Communication & the Arts in the rankings of overall communications institutions at #78.

“This recognition is a testament to our students’ hard work and our faculty’s dedication to nurturing creative storytellers,” said Dr. Simon Tarr, Dean of the School of Communication and the Arts and Dean of the Honors College. “At Regent University, we empower students to craft meaningful, redemptive films that resonate globally, and we’re honored to be recognized by the BEA as a leader in shaping the future of film and media.”

The annual rankings are based on consistent student success in the Festival of Media Arts, which includes both the quantity and quality of student productions.

In February 2025, three Regent University films achieved high honors at the Broadcast Education Association 2025 Festival of Media Arts—an international media and broadcast competition that collected nearly 2,300 entries from over 300 participating colleges and universities.

The BEA is the premier international academic media organization, driving insights, excellence in media production, and career advancement for educators, students, and professionals. It also serves as a forum for exposition, analysis and debate of issues of social importance to develop members’ awareness and sensitivity to these issues and to their ramifications, which will ultimately help students develop as more thoughtful practitioners.
