Jessica Guilfoyle, Ph.D., LMFT

Bio

Dr. Jessica Guilfoyle serves as Assistant Dean of the College of Health & Behavioral Sciences and Assistant Professor in the School of Psychology & Counseling at Regent University.

After leaving a successful career in retail, she earned a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California, completed her clinical training, and became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She owns a private practice in Dana Point, California, and is licensed to provide telehealth therapy in 15 states. Her clinical work is grounded in attachment theory and psychodynamic principles, with specialties in trauma, grief, perinatal mental health, infertility, life transitions, suicide, addiction, and career development. She is also an Approved Clinical Supervisor through the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Dr. Guilfoyle earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies with a concentration in grief from Regent University, receiving the Department of Counseling Ministries Outstanding Student Award before joining the faculty. She served for four years as Program Director of the Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies program before being appointed Assistant Dean. In 2025, she received the College of Health & Behavioral Sciences Outstanding Faculty Award.

Dr. Guilfoyle’s scholarship focuses on attachment, psychodynamic psychotherapy, trauma, grief, leadership, and the integration of faith and psychological science, informing her teaching, leadership, and clinical practice.

Dr. Guilfoyle and her husband are the proud parents of three children.
