Erin K. DeBoer, J.D.

Bio

Professor Erin K. DeBoer teaches Appellate Advocacy, Advanced Legal Research and Writing, and Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing at the Regent University School of Law. In the 2025-26 academic year, Professor DeBoer assumes the role of director of the law school’s legal writing program.

Professor DeBoer has a diverse background in academia, appellate law, and civil litigation. She served twice as a law clerk to the Honorable S. Bernard Goodwyn in the Supreme Court of Virginia. Professor DeBoer has also worked as an appellate attorney, demonstrating a keen eye for researching novel legal issues and crafting appellate arguments. She collaborated with trial attorneys during the appellate process, overseeing procedural requirements, writing briefs, and presenting oral arguments. Professor DeBoer’s appellate practice primarily focused on civil appeals before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia.

Professor DeBoer received a B.A. in history, summa cum laude, from Hillsdale College. She received her J.D., summa cum laude, from Regent University School of Law. At Regent, Professor DeBoer served as the editor of the Regent University Law Review Symposium. She is also a Blackstone Fellow.
