Dave Shuhy, Ph.D.

Bio

Dr. Dave Shuhy is a CAD (computer-aided drafting) guy at heart, which is odd because he’s not terribly precise in his day-to-day life. While his heart lives in the “fudge factor zone” of “close enough,” his internal precision draws things to the seventh decimal place. If you understand that tension and its glory, then you’ll understand Dave.

Born the youngest of three children in Washington, D.C., he grew up just over the state line in Maryland—seven stoplights outside the Beltway at the time, to be precise. He always had an interest in creating imaginary worlds and would annoy his parents by tearing the cushions off the furniture to construct them.

Since then, he’s formalized his style a bit and focused his efforts on creating worlds for theater, which is a more socially acceptable, and more lucrative, outlet for his talents. However, he’s really just a kid at heart, playing with bigger blocks and using longer words—because he’s expected to.
